About MST Camp Activities

Summer Camp is a performing arts playground where professional theater artists serve as mentors. With an emphasis on creativity and collaboration, we provide hands-on opportunities for students to make an original contribution in all aspects of play production.

About MST Camp Activities

EXPLORE: In addition to fun, fast-paced rehearsals every day in theater and playwriting, students will get to explore enrichment classes such as stagecraft Shakespeare, Commedia Dell’Arte,  Greek Theater, and stage combat. (Dance classes are not offered at one-week sessions; enrichment classes are only offered at certain locations.)

CREATE: Your child already has the tools needed to love the arts and to create them: a voice, a body, and an imagination. At Main Street Theater’s summer camp, your young performer will be able to exercise those tools under the mentorship of theater and performing arts professionals.

SKILLS: Within each age group, students write and stage their ORIGINAL theater pieces and dance pieces, creating their own roles, lines, and choreography. They may base their piece on a story they know or characters they would like to portray, learning the fundamentals of acting and dance by applying them to the pieces they create. (Dance classes are only offered during two-week sessions.)

INCLUSION: Never been on stage before or were you born on stage? Everyone is welcome in our performing arts playground. Students of all skill and experience levels learn from each other in rehearsal, and our small classes ensure individual attention.

CHALLENGE: In our day-to-day class process and our final performances, every child will be featured and every child will be challenged.

PERFORM: At the end of each one-week, two-week, and three-week session, students present their plays and dance pieces on a professional stage! Family and friends are invited to attend free of charge!

ARTISTS: Energetic, professional teaching artists are passionate about education and ready to help your students explore the performing arts! They are actors, directors, dancers and educators, and they are experienced at working with students of all skill levels.

CONVENIENCE: Parents love our staff’s great communication, no-hassle production style, and all-in-one tuition fee. Check out our 3 summer camp locations to find the easiest one for your commute—in Midtown & Rice Village (the MATCH and Main Street Theater), and Bellaire (Bellaire Parks & Recreation). Before and after extended-day care is available for all full-day students (ages 6-14) at our Rice Village and MATCH locations.
