Classes at the Theater

Core Skills Classes

2540 Times Blvd, Houston, TX 77005

Ages 4-14

We are looking for good team players, movie fans, avid readers, sports fans, brainiacs, shy kids, pirates, princesses and born performers – anyone and everyone who has ever imagined their own adventure! Our skills classes focus on particular aspects of performance and/or production under our professional teaching artists’ guidance. The students’ ideas inspire the final showcase–from selecting material to creating stories, props and costumes. As with any team, each student’s presence and participation are important—so please consider your schedule when registering.

Main Street Theater’s Education Department presents a faithful adaptation of A. A. Milne’s first book of Pooh stories: Winnie-the-Pooh.

Welcome to Christopher Robin’s “100 Aker Wood,” home of all your favorite childhood friends: Piglet, Rabbit, Eeyore, Owl, Kanga, Roo, and of course, that “hunny” loving bear, Pooh.  Balloons, Heffalumps and Donkey-tails take the stage, and everyone celebrates at a woodsy party.  It’s about childhood exploration, the dreaminess of play, and that careful, thoughtful, tentative business of growing up. Occupation, fortune, and all those grown-up values mean little to Christopher Robin.  What seems to matter most is in Eeyore’s tender words: “A little Consideration, a little Thought for Others, makes all the difference.”

Performances at the MATCH!

No auditions necessary. All students will be assigned a role after auditions during the first day of class. The play is professionally directed, rehearses at our Rice Village location, and performs at the MATCH in Midtown.
