Memorial is a large, mid-gentrified neighborhood in the American South, where just about every kind of American life can be found within its mere fifteen miles. When a group of Memorial High School theater students have their production of The Laramie Project shut down by the School Board, they decide to make their own piece of “documentary theater” about the fight to be able to do their play. Soon they find themselves on the frontlines of a hijinks-filled culture war, guaranteed to transform Memorial and the students alike. The Sparkle Wars is a mockumentary, a satire about how communities choose the stories that represent them. Contains adult language and mature content, including discussions of violence and death.
