Director Robin Robinson is seeking a diverse cast for this comedy in the style of Jane Austen, picking up the story of the Bennet family where Pride and Prejudice leaves off. Houston-based actors only, please, union and non-union.
Main Street Theater (MST) is committed to advancing equity, diversity and inclusion, and offers employment opportunities without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, genetics or veteran status. We encourage performers of all ethnicities and gender identities, as well as performers with disabilities, to audition.
All roles are open. Cast Breakdown follows:
Elizabeth Darcy “Lizzie”: Young wife of Mr. Darcy and mistress of Pemberley, mid 20’s, even-tempered, bold, fun-loving.
Fitzwilliam Darcy: Owner of Pemberley, 30’s, aristocratic, his formal front hides a good sense of humor. Dotes on his wife.
Jane Bingley: Lizzie’s older sister, mid 20’s, married to Mr. Bingley, serene, pregnant.
Mr. Bingley: Wealthy good friend of Mr. Darcy, enthusiastic, late 20’s-early 30’s, can be clueless. Also very much in love with his wife.
Mary Bennet: Socially awkward younger sister of Elizabeth and Jane, early 20’s. Plays the pianoforte, reads quite a bit, a good observer as she is rarely the center of attention. Bit of a nerd.
Arthur de Bourgh: Cousin of Mr. Darcy, mid-to-late 20’s, just inherited Lady Catherine de Bourgh’s estate on her recent death, would much rather be studying than running an estate. Socially awkward and definitely a nerd.
Lydia Wickham: Youngest of the Bennet sisters, 20,lively, flirtacious, is beginning to regret her marriage to George Wickham but makes a big show of being happy.
Anne de Bourgh: Daughter of Lady Catherine, late 20’s, imperious, demanding, originally intended (by her mother) for Mr. Darcy but now has her sights set on cousin Arthur.
