We are looking for good team players, movie fans, avid readers, sports fans, brainiacs, shy kids, pirates, princesses and born performers – anyone and everyone who has ever imagined their own adventure! Our skills classes focus on particular aspects of performance and/or production under our professional teaching artists’ guidance. The students’ ideas inspire the final showcase–from selecting material to creating stories, props and costumes. As with any team, each student’s presence and participation are important—so please consider your schedule when registering.

The Little Prince tells the story of the tired and discouraged Aviator whose sputtering plane strands him in the Sahara Desert and a mysterious, regal “little man” who appears and asks him, “Please, sir, draw me a sheep.” During their two weeks together in the desert, the Little Prince tells the Aviator about his adventures through the galaxy, how he met the Lamplighter and the Businessman and the Geographer, and about his unique connection to a very special flower on his own tiny planet. The Little Prince talks to everyone he meets: a garden of roses, the Snake and a Fox who wishes to be tamed, and all those characters come alive in the play! From each he gains a unique insight which he shares with the Aviator: “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly….What is essential is invisible to the eye.” This classic tale has wonderful roles for young actors ready to explore this deep yet delightful piece!

No auditions necessary. All students will be assigned a role after auditions during the first day of class. The play is professionally directed, rehearses at our Rice Village location, and performs at the MATCH in Midtown.
