Field Trip Booking at a Glance

Submit Your Request
You should receive an email confirming your request was sent. (If you haven’t already, submit your request here.)

Within 48 – 72 Hrs of Request
School Bookings Office will process your request. You will receive an email from Amanda Arnold either confirming your Field Trip, or following up with alternative date options.

After Field Trip Confirmation
School Bookings Office will send a contract via AdobeSign for your school to sign within a week to secure your Field Trip date.

Leading up to the Three Week Payment Deadline
School Bookings Office will send upcoming payment reminders with invoices and due dates. During this time your school is updating the School Bookings Office with changes in your total number of tickets.

Three Weeks before Your Performance
Your payment is due! Submit payment to Amanda Arnold via check, EFT, or card over the phone. Contact Amanda Arnold for any payment related questions.

One Week before Your Performance
School Bookings office will send a performance reminder confirming field trip date, performance time, arrival information, and other reminders.

Field Trip Date
Your school will arrive to the MATCH (3400 Main St.) for your Main Street Theater field trip!

The Day after Your Field Trip
The School Bookings Office will send a Cast Photo and Teacher Survey to the booking teacher!

Complete payment three weeks prior to performance.

Field Trip Timeline Example for a 9:30 AM Performance at MST

9:00 AM Your school arrives at the MATCH (3400 Main St.) for their Main Street Theater Field Trip! Your bus will park on Travis St. where you will be greeted by an MST employee and a Houston Police Officer and begin to unload your students from the bus.
9:10 AM Your school is unloaded from the bus and moved into our breezeway area. During this time your school is able to use the restroom and organize your group to prepare for entry to the theater.
9:10 AM Your school will line up single file in the order they would like to be seated with an MST employee and then enter the theater for the performance!
9:25 AM MST emplopyees will perform a Curtain Speech to prep your students for an amazing time inside the theater.
9:30 AM The performance begins!
10:30 AM The performance ends, lights will come up, and a 5 minute talkback begins!
10:35 AM The actors say goodbye and an MST employee will lead the dismissal process.
10:40 AM Your school is ushered back into the breezeway after the performance. During this time your school can use the restrooms, organize for bus loading, or move to their reserved lunch location.
11:00 AM Load up time! Your school will be loaded back onto the bus. Our Houston Police Officer will contact your bus drivers when it is time for them to return.
11:15 AM (if reserved for lunch) Your school will clean up lunch trash, use the restrooms, and line up to be ready to load up onto the bus!

How much are tickets?
Tickets are $10/person.
What is the price for Title 1 Schools?
Tickets are $9/person for Title 1 Schools. Find out if your school is Title 1 click HERE.
Are Chaperones Free?
No, every person attending your field trip must be included in your reservation.
Can I buy a ticket to my child’s field trip?
All Chaperones must be included and paid for in the School Group Reservation. We do not sell single tickets. Please do not call the theater to pay for single tickets.
Can I bring a sibling to the performance?
No. Children under 3 (including sleeping babies) will not be allowed in the theater.
How can I purchase tickets for the weekend performances?

How do I schedule a Field Trip?

How do I know if my booking has been accepted?
Once a request is submitted, a Staff Member will contact you within 48 business hours to confirm or make changes to your reservation. Your reservation is not confirmed until you have signed your contract.
Can Homeschools book?
Homeschool groups are welcome to book Field Trips to Main Street Theater. While there is no minimum requirement for tickets, groups of 10 or less must pay at the time of booking.
What if I need to add or remove tickets to my reservation?
Please contact Amanda Arnold at: aarnold@mainstreettheater.com or (713) 524-9196 option 2 to make changes to your reservation. Schools may decrease the number of tickets up to three weeks before your performance and receive a refund. There are no price changes after the due date. If this your performance fee due date falls on a holiday for your school, you are still responsible for payment by this date. Additional tickets are subject to availability.
What is your cancellation policy?
Refunds are not provided for cancellations past the payment due date.

How do I make payment for my School Group?

Can I buy a ticket to my child’s field trip?

What if my school cannot pay by the due date on our contract, or if my campus is having funding issues?

When is my school’s field trip payment due?
Your field trip must be paid for by the date listed on your contract.

Where do buses park?
All buses must unload on Travis St. at our designated drop off location. A Police Officer and Staff Member will be there to assist with unloading students. The Police Officer will then guide the bus to their best parking location. Please keep in mind that we do not have designated parking areas for buses. Our Police Officer will call your bus drivers back when it is time for your students to return to the bus.

Do I have to sit with my group?
Yes, for the safety of our patrons all people in your group must sit together and in the seats assigned by the House Manager. We do not allow splitting of groups.

Will there be opportunities for my class to use the restroom before the performance?
Groups that arrive before seating begins will be able to use the restroom. If seating has already begun, your group will be assigned seats inside the theater and then are able to enter and exit as needed.

Do chaperones need a school issue name badge?
Name Tags are required for any adult attending a field trip to Main Street Theater. These can be school issues, or name tags will be distributed upon arrival.

What if my school group did not make it to the performance in time?
Late seating is at the discretion of the Lead House Manager. If unable to be seated they will be asked to reschedule, and will be provided a credit for a future performance in lieu of a refund. Refunds are not provided to school groups that missed a performance.

What if part of my group is arriving late?

I requested the Plaza for a Lunch Reservation, how do I know if I am booked?
Requesting the Plaza does not guarantee a Lunch Reservation. If accepted, you will receive an email confirming your group for the Plaza. The Plaza is available by advanced reservation only.
How long is my lunch reservation?
Lunch reservations are 30 minutes. This includes eating and clean up time.
In what area will we be eating lunch?
Lunch is located in our Breezeway. Groups will be seated on concrete. Our Breezeway is covered, but is still outside. We recommend bringings picnic blankets to sit on! Please be prepared for weather.
Where can we store our lunches?
-Lunches are stored in the Lobby of the theater.
