School Show Accommodations
Main Street Theater is committed to ensuring that our productions are accessible to everyone.

Theater for Youth
Accessible performances include Audio Description and Support, American Sign Language and Sensory-Friendly/Relaxed performances.
These Sensory-Friendly/Relaxed performances will provide students an opportunity to attend a performance modified to meet sensory needs giving access to live theater to ALL children.
Each performance offered as Sensory-Friendly will incorporate the following changes:
- Increased lighting in the house/seats throughout the performance
- Lower sound levels
- Additional trained staff on hand to provide patrons with assistance when needed
- Electronic devices such as tablets or smart phones may be used throughout the performance with headphones
- Prompt books for teachers to prepare for the show
- Fidget toys are welcome
All tickets are offered at a special rate. Just choose “Sensory Friendly Accommodation” from the dropdown menu when you are purchasing your tickets.
The theater is equipped with Listen Technologies to help students who require additional audio support in performances. Students can request use of an assisted hearing device. They will be given a receiver with three options for earphones:
The device will have a lanyard which patrons can place around their neck so they don’t have to hold it during the performance. Each device has adjustable volume control.
You will need to have a valid ID, driver’s license, or credit card when borrowing a unit.
Sign language interpretation is scheduled for select Main Street Theater performances throughout the season.

Audio description is also available for students. Using a single earpiece connected to an infrared headset, students who are blind or have low vision can listen to trained audio describers give live, verbal descriptions of actions, costumes, scenery, and other visual elements of a performance.
Differently-abled drop off can be accommodated on the Travis St. side of the building before and after performances.
The theater has wheelchair- and scooter-accessible locations where patrons can remain in their wheelchairs or transfer to theater seats. Students who cannot or do not wish to transfer from their wheelchairs to a theater seat should request wheelchair-accessible locations when ordering tickets.
