Cold War Choir Practice

Cold War Choir Practice

Regional Premiere
By Ro Reddick

Directed by Jessica Jaye

It’s twilight in Ronald Reagan’s America, and the specter of nuclear war hangs over the country—but rent is still due on the 1st. A young girl is embroiled in intrigue when her estranged uncle, a prominent Black conservative, brings his mysteriously ill, white wife home for the holidays and forces long-simmering tensions within the family to boil.

Winner of the 2026 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, Cold War Choir Practice is an explosion of roller disco, Reaganomics, espionage, and cults—underscored by the Seedlings of Peace Children’s Chorus.

“HILARIOUS, INSIGHTFUL, and surprisingly ACTION-PACKED.” –ZACHARY STEWART, THEATERMANIA

“There’s family drama, capitalist cults, speak-and-spell spycraft and the threat of nuclear war, but it has fun original songs and so many laughs.” = The Public’s Radio/Rhode Island PBS

An Irish Carol is an homage to Dickens’ classic – told as only the Irish can! This comic and touching play, set in a modern Dublin pub, follows one evening in the life of David, a wealthy pub owner who has lost touch with his own humanity in the interest of self-protection and material success. But on this Christmas Eve – challenged by a voice from the past, provoked by those in the present, and faced with the reality of a lonely future – David’s life may just change forever.

The Sparkle Wars

The Sparkle Wars

World Premiere
By Brendan Bourque-Sheil

Directed by Andrew Ruthven

Memorial is a large, mid-gentrified neighborhood in the American South, where just about every kind of American life can be found within its mere fifteen miles. When a group of Memorial High School theater students have their production of The Laramie Project shut down by the School Board, they decide to make their own piece of “documentary theater” about the fight to be able to do their play. Soon they find themselves on the frontlines of a hijinks-filled culture war, guaranteed to transform Memorial and the students alike. The Sparkle Wars is a mockumentary, a satire about how communities choose the stories that represent them.

Contains adult language and mature content, including discussions of violence and death.

Arcadia

Arcadia

By Tom Stoppard

Directed by Rebecca Greene Udden

Arcadia moves effortlessly back and forth between 1809 and the present day at the elegant estate owned by the Coverly family. The 1809 scenes reveal a household in transition. As the Arcadian landscape is being transformed into picturesque Gothic gardens, complete with a hermitage, young Lady Thomasina and her tutor delve into highly intellectual ideas while passion intrigue dances around them. Present day scenes depict the Coverly descendants and two competing scholars who are researching a possible scandal at the estate in 1809 involving Lord Byron. This brilliant play explores – with great humor and deep heart – the nature of truth and time, the difference between classical and romantic temperaments, and the disruptive influence of sex and passion – the attraction Newton left out.

“Pure entertainment for the heart, mind, soul…It is a work shot through with fun, passion and, yes, genius.” – The New York Post

“Stoppard’s richest, most ravishing comedy, a play of wit, intellect, language, brio and…emotion. It’s like a dream of levitation: you’re instantaneously aloft, soaring, banking, doing loop the loops… The playwright is a daredevil pilot who’s steady at the controls.” – The New York Times

“Full of complex ideas and pleasures one expects from this master of dramatic composition.” – Time Out New York
